Chopsy Baby is Reviewing… The Sooty Show – Brand New Series on DVD out 13 August

Chopsy Baby Says: “Perfect Bone-Brained fun to entertain youngsters and their families.”

Rating: 10/10

Despite being around the age of 60 years, the little yellow bear with the black ears is still going strong. Now, five episodes from The all-new Sooty Show, will be released on DVD this month.

Host Richard Cadell, has a natural affinity with the famous trio of Sooty, Sweep and Soo, in this highly successfully revival of the children’s classic.

Just somehow, the bone-brained slap stick fun hasn’t dated in the slightest. The new production is packed full of simple very funny Frank Spencer meets Norman Wisdom comedy and plenty of gunge.

There are laugh out loud moments for parents and children, as holiday park employee Richard, blunders from one disaster to the next with the help of a little Izzy Wizzy magic.

For parents, it’s great to see Matthew Corbett back guest starring in Chocco Chimp. It’s also nice to see the series still retains the original magic and production values, without resorting to CGI tricks.

Sooty and Sweep still retain the same naughty squabbling sibling relationship, Soo is still sanctimonious as hell, and Richard manages to carry the whole thing off, avoiding the awkward why is a man living with puppets question.

But there is one question hanging over the series. Why doesn’t Richard have a union rep? His boss Mr Slater sounds awful.

The five fun episodes include: The Swimming Lesson, The Runaway Bath, The Marching Band and The Wedding.

The episodes are tied together with new footage featuring the fab four. Children can join in at home as the first release comes with a free Magic wand.
