Cinderella is UK’s favourite fairy tale, according to a poll of 1000 parents of 4 to 8 year olds.

Hopefully not the blood thirsty original, Cinderella was named as the most popular story with 14 per cent of parents putting it into first place.

Behind came Jack and the Beanstalk, followed by Goldilocks and the Three Bears then Snow White.

Interestingly, mums and dads differed on their favourite fairy tales, with mums preferring Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid and Rapunzel.

Dads said they preferred The Three Billy Goat’s Gruff, The Three Little Pigs and Hansel and Gretel.
