Council release Christmas crackers advice
As well as being the most beautiful time of the year, it is also one of the most dangerous. Around 80,000 people will be going to hospital with a Christmas related accident in the home.
Bristol City Council Trading Standards are keen to avert some of these disasters and have released advice ranging from the sensible to the blindingly obvious.
Christmas tree decorating accounts for around 100 accidents, mostly caused by Frank Spencers using unstable chairs or badly positioned stepladders.
Real trees are highly flammable when dry, so never put a lighted candle on them.
Always read the label on Christmas crakers as they will contain important safety information.
