Does your commute cost more than your childcare?

I work on the Fair Fares Now campaign, which calls for cheaper, simpler and fairer rail ticketing.

As part of the campaign, I’m working with a national newspaper to highlight the huge burden extortionate rail fares have on working mums (and dads).

I’m looking for mums willing to share their stories on how the cost of the daily commute factored in their decision to return, or not to return to work.

Is the cost of commuting a barrier to returning to work?

Is your weekly train fare more than your childcare costs?

Do you work part time and would like to see a season ticket that accounts for part time working?

Are you having to economise elsewhere to meet the costs of travelling to work?

If you are affected by rising rail fares and would like to share your story with a journalist, I would love to hear from you.
