Don't forget sun protection all through the summer
Despite the rain washing out much of July, it is important to remember that beneath the cloud it is still possible to get burnt by the sun.
The sun is at its hottest between 11am and 3pm, so don’t be caught unaware.
Make sure you always carry your sun cream in your bag in case the summer sun dares to make it through the downpours.
Statistics from Boots show that 48 per cent of children in the UK have already been sunburnt in their lifetimes and a surprising 72 per cent of people are likely to end up getting sunburnt whilst in the UK because we don’t think it’s sunny enough to need sun protection.
To help young children understand the importance of staying safe in the sun, Boots have come up with friendly bear Sunshine Sam, who can currently be seen in a television advertising campaign.

Parents can also download an interactive version of the storybook featuring Sam and narrated by Edith Bowman here: www.boots.com/sunshinesam
We have some fantastic Sunshine Sam competition prizes to win.
