ERIC has launched STOP the Issue Ballooning campaign to help families with child continence issues

Getting help early on with child continence problems can help stop embarrassment and isolation, UK charity ERIC is telling parents.

An online survey of over 1,000 people run by the charity, found 60 per cent of families waited a whole year before getting their child any help.

Findings also showed 267 families waited more than two year to get help, with 182 families waiting one year, 108 families 1-2 years and 171 6-12 months.

Jenny Perez, ERIC’s Director said: “We regularly hear parents that contact ERIC say they wish they got help earlier. We know from experience that the earlier families get help for childhood continence problems, the better. There is no need for children and young people to suffer unnecessarily and in the majority of cases, a solution can be found.”

The chairty has now launched the STOP the Issue Ballooning campaign, to urge families to seek help as early as possible.

The campaign will see the launch of the world’s biggest e-balloon race to raise awareness and funds. Supporters are invited to purchase a virtual balloon for £2 which will compete against others to win the race. For more details visit
