Families not protecting themselves against illness on holiday
Many families are not protecting themselves from serious illness when jetting off on holiday.
According to findings by LV=, people are not having recommended travel vaccinations, mainly due to the rising cost of jabs.
More than 26 per cent of holiday makers have been to countries in the last 12 months requiring vaccinations for Hepatitis A, Typhoid and Diphtheria, but failed to have them done.
This was found to be due to being unaware of health risks, ignoring medical advice to be vaccinated and sheer cost.
The medical cost to a traveller going to destinations such as Thailand, Mexico or India could reach as much as £93, with the cost of Malaria tablets increasing in price by more than 11 per cent.
The lacks attitude to taking medical precautions has led to more than 350,000 people falling ill as a result, with illnesses ranging from a dodgy stomach to contracting Malaria.
