Families urged to sign petition for childhood vaccinations

Families are being urged to put their name to a petition to ensure sure all the children in the world have access to vaccinations.

The Save the Children’s petition for childhood vaccinations is to be delivered to Downing Street ahead of a major summit taking place this June and hosted by the UK government.

The London summit is aiming to rally international funds to pay for a two billion pound shortfall in the global immunisation fund.

So far, 17,000 people have signed the petition, but Save the Children is urging more households to add their name.

Save the Children CEO Justin Forsyth says: “Millions of the poorest children in the world die every year from diseases we know how to treat, simply because they don’t have access to vaccinations we take for granted here in the UK.

“Signing the petition is such a simple and easy thing to do – you don’t even need to leave your home. But the more people that sign the petition, tweet about it and add links to their facebook page, the more likely it is that world leaders will listen.”
