Fire Damaged We The Curious Remains Closed For ‘Some Months’

We The Curious will be closed for a ‘few months’ in the wake of a fire which broke out on the building’s roof.

On 09 April, the building was evacuated when a fire started on the roof of the building. It was later found that birds had damaged the photovoltaic solar panels on the roof sparking a fault in the electrical system.

Despite ‘significant’ fire damage – mainly contained to the roof – water has also proved ‘a challenge’ for the science venue. It has been stricken by damage to the roof, the second floor as well as the building systems, with water also making its way through the fabric of the building.

We The Curious members were contacted this month to inform them of lengthy delays to its reopening.

The venue said: ‘We don’t currently have a reopening date yet, but we know we’ll be closed for a few months.’

Pop up events will be held around the city and staff will be running activities around Millennium and Anchor Square some weekends and the May Half term,

Still struggling in the wake of Covid-19 pandemic closures, We The Curious are taking donations at the following link: justgiving.com/wethecurious
