Halal baby food ready meals launches in UK

A new brand of ready made baby food has just launched in the UK.

Nasims, is a selection of Halal infant formula and baby foods aimed at Muslim parents.

The recipes are fortified with iron and contains no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives.

Menus include Oriental Salmon Supper, Lamb Curry and Spaghetti Bolognese and are suitable for babies from six to ten months of age.

Mother of five, Nasim Rizvi created the brand when she struggled to find suitable Halal ready meals to feed to her own children.

She believes the lack of Halal baby food in the UK is a ‘serious issue’.

Nasim says:  “Many Muslim children living in northern Europe have iron deficiency. Meat is a main source of iron, but as the ready-made baby foods on the market are not Halal, Muslim babies do not eat them. In addition Muslim babies living in northern Europe can also lack vitamin D, which is produced naturally when the sun hits your skin. So I have included a vitamin D-rich salmon dish in my range.”

Infant formula (800g) £9.99
£1.39 per 120g meal pot pack

Available from selected Tesco and Asda stores nationwide
