Hartley’s squeezy jam takes the mess out of tarts

hartleys

Jam tarts is the original and best recipe to use for teaching small children how to cook.

Easy to make and deliciously sweet, now parents can ditch the messy spooning out method and not have to worry about a sticky, jammy jar contaminating everything it comes into contact with.

The geniuses behind Hartley’s jam packaging now bring it to parents in the convenience of a squeezy bottle.

Chopsy Baby hit the kitchen to knock up some class act jam tarts with a group of messy three-year-olds.

With no compromising on the taste, the easy flip lid and blissfully mess-free nozzle directs the jam just where you want it, and best of all no butter, crumb covered knives or wandering toddler hands can get inside.

The squeezy jams come in three flavours: Smooth Strawberry, Smooth Sweet Orange and Smooth Blackcurrant and Apple.

With no artificial flavours or colours, no lumps, bits or pips, the jam contains nothing but pure fruit.

Here is Hartley’s recipe for their Smooth Squeezy Jam Tarts
Serves 4-6

Ingredients:

175 g plain (all-purpose) flour
A pinch of salt
75 g hard block butter, diced
Cold water, to mix
90 ml/6 tbsp Hartley’s Smooth Squeezy Jam

Method:

Sift the flour and salt in a bowl.

Add the butter and rub in with the fingertips until the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs.

Mix with enough cold water to form a firm dough.

Knead gently on a lightly floured surface.

Roll out and use to line a 20 cm/8 in pie plate.

Trim the edge and decorate with the prongs of a fork.
Squeeze your Hartley’s Smooth Squeezy Jam in the centre of the pastry.

Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C/400°F/gas mark 6 for about 20 minutes until the pastry is golden and the jam is bubbling.

Serve warm or cold
