Have You Stopped To Look At The Cabot Circus Shopping Centre Glass Roof
It’s a really impressive design by artist Nayan Kulkarni
You’ve probably walked underneath it a million times and given it little thought – except the times when the specialist window cleaners are standing on top of the glass structure.

The roof of Cabot Circus Shopping Centre was not just designed to be a purely functioning thing. It was created by Nayan Kulkarni, a multimedia artist working in sound, light, video installation and architecture.
Kulkarni’s roof design was commissioned by The Bristol Alliance – a partnership between Hammerson and Land Securities. The glass design was created by Kulkarniin partnership with the architects of the shopping centre Chapman Taylor.

The roof installation is comprised of shell-shaped glass roof floats that minimise the appearance of frames and connections, allowing in natural light.
There’s around 1000 panes of glass used across the ceiling which is 6,500 square meters in size.
Next time you’re in the shopping centre, take a look at the glass roof because its design is actually both impressive and beautifully shaped.
