High street store to help UNICEF

High street store Boots is joining forces with UNICEF to help protect mothers and babies in the developing world from tetanus.

From now until 15 December 2009, for every marked pack of Pampers and Fairy Non-Bio sold online or in store, Pampers will donate one tetanus vaccine to UNICEF’s campaign.

The charity is aiming to eradicate newborn and maternal tetanus by 2012.

Boots will also be donating one extra vaccine for every purchase of its limited edition baby bib.

According to UNICEF, Tetanus is still a big killer in developing countries with an estimated 500,000 cases a year killing approximately 200,000 young babies and 30,000 mothers.
