It’s Never Boring in St Judes Bristol
St Jude would probably dash down his staff in despair at some of the sights one encounters in St Judes, Bristol. The locality is named after the man himself, the patron saint of lost causes. And the name fits perfectly, for nowhere else in Bristol will you find an area both as exciting and deplorable. It’s never boring in St Judes. Nobody ever writes anything positive about the area because to be blunt, there’s nothing positive to write.
And that was a point driven home by the head teacher of a St Judes nursery school and children’s centre at the recent education protest which took place on Saturday 20 May 2017 across the whole of Central Bristol. For while teachers marched out of despair due to the massive cuts to school budget in Bristol, that head teacher alone stood up for St Judes and its children. The cuts simply won’t be the same for a primary school in affluent areas such as Westbury Park or Bishop Road School off of the London Exile Gloucester Road. Those who live and work in St Judes know there is nothing left to cut from education or the area full stop.
So this section is dedicated to the wondrous horror of living in St Judes and the glorious spectacle each fresh new day brings.
