Kids in cars causes dangerous driving

Children in the back seat are responsible for making one in four parents make mistakes whilst driving.

Tesco Baby and Toddler Club’s Mums’ Choice Panel polled 755 parents. They found that 70 per cent of parents distracted by their children led them to miss turnings.

More worryingly, 24 per cent of parents accidentally went over the speed limit and 6 per cent went through a red light.
It appears that kids do benefit from their bad behaviour, with parents spending an average of £194 to keep children quiet on long car journeys.

More than half of parents spent the cash on in-car DVD systems and hand-held game consoles.

Other parents ease holiday car journeys by having their partner sitting in the back with the children and 11 per cent leaving before sunrise to miss the morning traffic.
