Light up a winter party or bangless bonfire night with Chinese Lanterns
If you are looking to light up a winter party or have a bangless bonfire night that won’t scare little ones, DRD’s Help For Heroes Chinese Lanterns could be your thing.
Whilst we liked the idea of the Chinese Lantern, we wanted to check out how safely they could be used in the presence of children.
The lantern itself is huge, and we recommend two adults setting it up, especially ones who have not consumed alcohol.
Once the lanterns have been set alight in the correct place, it can take a couple of minutes until it is ready to float away.
Children should be kept supervised at a safe distance at all times.

Chopsy Baby reporter Mathew tested out the lanterns with his family and says: “The children were fascinated with the science behind what they understood to be a hot air balloon. It fired their imagination and was an excellent learning opportunity.
“The lantern once filled with hot air quickly went up and away until it became just a glowing dot.

“It can be worrying setting off a ball of fire into the great unknown, but the components are 100 per cent bio-degradable and we were assured by DRD that the flame is contained and won’t be causing a series of small fires across the county.”
Ideal for late night Halloween fun, or to impress toddlers on Firework night without the scary bangs, the Help for Heroes sky lanterns are available in a pack of three – red white and blue – for £9.99, with £1 from each sale donated to the charity.
