How To Make A LEGO Star Wars Death Star – Without The LEGO
The LEGO Star Wars Death Star must be one of the most coveted LEGO builds. It’s the ultimate Star Wars set, but with an ultimate £500 price. Of course, you can pick up the sets second hand, but for the high price and risk of missing parts, it’s usually worth buying it new or factory sealed at top prices.
The thing about LEGO Star Wars models is that children often want to play with them. Considering a large set can take several hours to construct, it is a real heartache when they are dropped or fall apart in play. Have you experienced the frustration and rage of a young child who just wants to fly the LEGO Republic Gunship yet the wings keep dropping off? Imagine the pain of a Death Star rolling off the table.
With this in mind, we came up with a simple way of creating a robust, genuine LEGO Death Star and our result was a brilliant mix of tacky, practical but with proper job Lego.
The cardboard Death Star cost £15 and slots together quickly to form a fairly stable structure. Then we added bits of Mayka tape to suit and tried it out with some Star Wars mini figures.
For those people who are a dab hand with the whole making thing, you can improve on this attempt with cut to size base plates and even incorporate other smaller Death Star play sets.
