Make wise toy gift choices urges Worlds Apart

As Christmas rolls around again, are you making wise choices when it comes to buying toys as presents?

Considering that many children have a plethora of toys that they never or rarely play with, makers of the Dream Town range of toys Worlds Apart, have some tips for the parents and even grandparents advising Father Christmas.

1. Don’t be afraid to choose toys with play patterns you enjoyed as a child. Despite the mass of electronic and new-fangled games and gadgets, good old fashioned role play has never gone out of fashion and can capture a child’s imagination for hours.

2. When choosing toys, consider the child’s interests – perhaps check with the parents first?  Plus be mindful or yours or the family’s lifestyle. If a mum is likely to be trying to work or has a particularly large family, then fiddly toys or messy art sets which require adult intervention are probably not the best idea.

3. Parents can easily get kids to play with more of their toys. Making time for a regular sort out, finding missing parts and items and putting them all ‘back together’ can breathe new life into many neglected or forgotten toys.

4. It’s always a great idea to ring the changes and put toys away for a while and bring them out again so they are fresh and new.  Many toys can be exciting again if they haven’t been played with for a while.

5. Make some extra time – especially now the winter evenings are upon us – to get out those toys that perhaps need a bit of family effort.
