Mum and Dad most shunned Facebook Friend Request

Flouncing from and deleting ‘Friends’ is a big deal to some Facebook users, but 36 per cent of adults had no qualms about removing relatives from their Friends list.

Awkward Facebook family moments also include 21 per cent not accepting a friend request from a relative, with Mum or Dad being the most rejected request.

A fifth of the young adults taking part in the study thought their parents used Facebook to snoop on their social lives.

A spokesperson for NetVoucherCodes.co.uk which carried out the research said: “Social media allows people to share their lives like never before but our survey shows that not all of us necessarily want to share everything with our nearest and dearest.

“Parents are the most unfriended relative because we are initially likely to accept their request as we don’t want to hurt their feelings. It seems many prefer to accept then quietly unfriend later and hope the move isn’t spotted.”
