New ISP tibboh will protect children on the internet through British Board of Film Classification
Families concerned about the type of internet content their children and teenagers maybe accessing could benefit from a unique new internet service launching today.
Accredited by the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) ISP tibboh will deliver age-appropriate internet content based on the UK film industry classifications U, PG, 12 ,15 and 18.
Developed by specialists in educational technology the tibboh service will give parents of teens added peace of mind by becoming the first broadband ISP to offer the CEOPS button on social networking website Facebook.
The child safe system has been successfully running in schools for the past year and is now being made available to the public for the first time.
CEO of tibboh, Martin Large said: “tibboh marks the internet’s coming of age as a service. tibboh now offers a cleaned-up version, with classified age-appropriate content, for families and schools. This has been tried before but –the beauty of tibboh is that it’s more subtle in its distinctions than the “black and white” option offered by conventional filtering; after all, what’s suitable for a 17 year-old is not the same as what suitable for an 8-year old. Few parents know how to achieve this and to keep it up-to-date. The BBFC symbols are easily identifiable and understood for parents and teachers, saving them from the time and hassle of setting their own policies.
The tibboh service costs £19.99 per month and is being launched with high-speed (3GB) mobile internet access.
