Panda Licorice
Chopsy Baby recommended Panda Licorice, as an alternative to a chocolate egg this Easter. We all know someone with a penchant for licorice, and father of two Mat, tells us just why Panda Licorice beats eggs hands down.
“In my professional role of product testing for Chopsy Dads, and having a major sweet tooth, I eagerly stepped forward to test these out.
“I wasn’t let down either. As I opened the first pack and smelled the sweet aroma of licorice, my mouth watered. Even more so as I know I’m the only one here that likes it so knew it was all mine mwaaaahaaaaa.
“Of course the inevitable happened when Chopsy tester Sid, came begging for some. I gave him one bear shaped piece of licorice, which he shouted Dare at – his word for bear. He bit into his piece then started spitting it as if he was in the wild west and chewing spitting tobacco. As this was his first real taste of licorice this didn’t really surprise me.
“After cleaning his mess up, with several pieces of bear shaped goodies in my mouth, I got back to opening the other packs before I ate the whole bag at once.
“I was shocked to find that I loved the licorice filled with either mint, lemon and raspberry. I started to find the raspberry one which was nice, if not a little sickly. Though this could now be from licorice overload!
“Next, I got stuck into the bag of original licorice, similar to the teddy bear shaped ones but made so us big kids wouldn’t get funny looks while eating them on the bus to and from work!
“Starting to feel a little sick I finally opened the bag of licorice mix. My mouth started to water once again as I found something that resembled one of my childhood favourites – the licorice torpedo.
“I picked one up and instantly had a childhood flashback about being sent to the headmasters office for being naughty. Then I found a sweet I had never seen before, it had the same shell as a torpedo but was round! I popped it into my mouth and bit down expecting to find a solid lump of licorice and to my amazement I found chocolate covered licorice what made me grab a few more pieces.
“After all of this tasting I decided that I needed a well deserved lie down as the sugary treats had got the better of me.
“Though they made me feel very sick, probably due to eating too much at once, the chocolate one was so moorish they should sell them in sack loads.”
