Parents net neglecting their children

Parents are not taking enough responsibility when it comes to keeping their children safe whilst using the internet.

Despite several high-profile cases of children being lured away by predatory net users, a whopping 63 per cent of parents admit to never discussing online safety with their child or teenager.

The ‘net neglect’ was discovered by software company CA, which also found more than 50 per cent of parents failed to set up any internet security controls to protect their children from online threats.

In a separate study by CA, more than 50 per cent of children were found to have been confronted by strangers online, with social networking sites like Facebook being a key way for those looking to exploit vulnerable children.
