Parents still worry their bedwetting child will be bullied
Mums still worry that their bedwetting child will cause them judgement and embarrassment from other parents.
A staggering 75 per cent of 1,531 mums polled by DryNites, believed that betwetting was an embarrassing condition despite it affecting around 600,000 children aged 4-19 years in the UK.
A total of four out of ten feared being judged as a bad parent or worried their child would be labelled because of it.
Parents won’t talk about it with other parents or ask advice because they worry it may cause their child to be bullied.
Of the parents who took part in the research, 66 per cent thought their child should be dry during the night by four years of age.
“About one in five 4½ year olds aren’t yet dry at night and some children can have bedwetting accidents up to the age of 15 or even beyond, but most children will be dry at night by the time they are 7 or 8,” says DryNites expert
Penny Dobson.
“Despite this parents shouldn’t be afraid to seek help. 30% of parents in our survey said they’d wait until their child grew out of bedwetting but if parents are concerned they should speak to their GP or health visitor”.
