Police hail St Paul’s Carnival a success

This year’s St Paul’s Carnival was a sunny success with visitor numbers from the city and beyond estimated to be up to 70,000.

The 24 hour celebrations include music, dance and performances, as well as the legendary carnival  featuring local schools, community groups and spectacular costumes.

Police are impressed with this year’s event with crime numbers falling.

Despite increased visitor numbers, there were only 19 arrests for minor offences.

For Avon and Somerset Police, Superintendent Julian Moss said: “St Paul’s Carnival is one of the most colourful and vibrant events in Bristol’s cultural calendar. We would like to congratulate the carnival organisers for their months of hard work and close collaboration with all the city’s agencies to make this year’s Carnival such a success.
