Replacement vaccine to offer greater protection

Children are about to be offered a replacement vaccine to protect them against a larger number of strains of the pneumococcal bacteria.

The new vaccines will increase from seven to thirteen strains and will be introduced into the routine  Childhood Immunisation Programme in the spring.

Parents will not need to take any extra action other than to continue having their child vaccinated as normal.
