Review: Battle for Terra DVD release

This smoothly animated film, following the efforts of mankind to survive after the destruction of earth,  refreshingly moves away from the standard Disney Pixar formula to offer a slightly more sophisticated attempt at entertainment with a statement.

The only chance of survival for the human race in the future leaves them having to successfully integrate onto a planet filled with a peace loving alien race called the Terrians on planet Terra.

Of course, it’s not long before we fall into our usual habit of war, with the potential to destroy both species for ever.

Similar to Antz in terms of its more thought provoking content, this Avatar for youngsters can be a little slow for the adults at times, perhaps more suited to serialisation.

But, those parents tired of  sitting through the loud gags and gimmicks of the Shreks and Toy Stories will enjoy the slower pace and less in-your-face characterisation.

Safe and thought provoking family entertainment, this summer release is ideal for seven to eight year olds.
