REVIEW: Chopsy Baby is reviewing… Bath Time at the Brewery Theatre – Tobacco Factory
The Tobacco Factory just doesn’t ever put on any rubbish does it? And Toby Hulse’s Bath Time playing now at the Brewery is no exception.
Billed as Christmas fun for children aged 2-5 years of age, the show is beautifully simple and entertaining.
Matt (Matt Christian Reed) and Robin (Robin Hemmings) take the audience into a world of imagination and fun games centred on bath time.
Throughout the show we are treated to songs and games with lots of lovely references to Christmas.
My son absolutely loved the show and so did the rest of the audience.
The intimate auditorium is perfect for youngsters to get close to the action and was filled with the contented sounds of giggles turning into deep belly laughs.
What was lovely about the experience is that temperament of the play is not over whelming. It is a welcome step away from the manic circus that seems to be the Christmas spirit elsewhere. It is very well suited to its young audience.
Oxford Playhouse sticks to a simple formula ditching the major large special effects and concentrating on brilliant acting. The effects that they do create are inspired and brilliant. You just wouldn’t think that you could create a snow effect with a combi drill – time to get the tool kit out when the hubby isn’t looking.
Bath Time is playing at the Brewery until Sunday 08 January.
