REVIEW: Neon Mini Micro Scooter
Travel by scooter is currently the essential mode of transport for all children. In fact, British company Micro Scooters have found the surge of interest in scooting so widespread, they even make and sell scooters for adults.
They have recently launched a new range of scooters for children aged between two and five years of age. The new Neon Mini Micros have been designed to appeal and motivate children to play. They come in three neon colours – blue, orange and yellow.
The Orange aims to stimulate activity and socialisation, the Yellow to speed up metabolism and get loungers off the sofa and the Blue to relax first time scootists.

Jen says: “Scooter seems to be the only way to travel to and from school these days, at least in the BS4 area. And, there can be no better place in Bristol to take a Neon Micro Scooter out for testing, with some of the most hideous terrain imaginable in the guise of Broomhill’s Allison Road and Knowle’s Talbot Road.
“There can be also be no better scooter tester than my son, a fast four-year-old who veers between the stunts of Frank Spencer, Norman Wisdom and TV’s Jackass.”
“The novice rider put the Micro Scooter through tough paces for two-weeks. He learned how to ride and control it within the hour. It is easy to direct and we had no problems toppling off which I did worry about. To be honest, I didn’t expect it to survive. But it did and it stands up well to even the harshest of rides – and inadvertent jumps.
“The Neon Micro Scooter is a top end scooter, priced from the £50 and well upwards mark. But it is a sturdy little thing really suitable for properly supervised children aged two-years to five years. There has been times when ours has bumped down kerbs, bumped up kerbs and gone veering alone down the middle of Broomhill Road. Still it has survived. It has stood up to a surprising amount of physical riding because where as most scooters simply have front wheel/s and backwheel/s, the Micro Scooters have a simple front T-bar steering mechanism and a rear brake. This gives riders a chance to steer it around corners and objects without loosing speed or having an accident. Initially, it looks like it could be the weak part of the toy but we have had no issues with it.
“The instructions advise not using the brake on wet ground or steep hills, but we can confirm we have done both with no trouble.
“The scooter is great if going to or from school is any kind of flash point for your child. They are unlikely to moan about being tired if they can scoot and the toy can work as a distraction or incentive.”
Best of all…
The simple T-bar steering mechanism.
Could improve…
Nothing, though it would be nice to be able to fold it down for buses and shops. If there is a way to do this with the scooter the instructions do not say.
Basically…
A really very impressive scooter that preschool and nursery children will be able to control. Fantastic.
