Review: The clever Sock Ons are an emotional triumph for parents tired of losing baby socks
One frustrating scenario that new parents are not warned about in the Bounty Book has finally been resolved by a London designer and the mother of five busy boys.
Many new parents will be familiar with this situation. You have just pushed your beautiful baby, only weeks old all the way to the health centre for the baby clinic. As you lift them out of the pram it’s then you realise, at some point along the way, one or even two brand new little socks have wiggled off. Despite a frantic hunt through the cosy toes, the missing socks are nowhere to be found.
This, you quickly learn is not a one off situation. As the pile of odd socks grows, socks are lost in action on buses, at playgroups, in shops, pulled off of feet by the babies and no matter how much you retrace your footsteps, you will never find them again.
This is why Chopsy Baby wanted to tell you about Sock Ons. As both journalists and parents ourselves, we were keen to test the product out, hoping the tragic loss of little socks could be stopped by such a simple and cost effective solution.
The humble Sock Ons come in one size in colours baby pink, baby blue and white.
Machine washable at 30 degrees and made from a soft blend of nylon and elastane, the clever little Sock Ons fit over the baby’s socks holding them in place whilst being open toed and open heeled allowing for flexibility.
Chopsy Baby editor Jen says: “These ingenious little things are brilliant for keeping baby’s socks in place, whether they are tiny newborns or crawling around floors. Despite my best efforts, I was forever losing baby socks with my own child which is both frustrating and expensive.
“One of Chopsy Baby’s reporters tested Sock Ons on their ten-week-old baby. Over the course of seven days, not one single sock was lost. This was an emotional triumph for the baby’s parents who have seven odd socks due to their partner’s go missing out of the house.
“Sock Ons is one of those brilliant products that you don’t realise you need until you need it. They were a joy to test out as they really do work.”
Sock Ons are available from www.firetots.com priced £5.99 for two pairs.
