Review: The New Dad’s Survival Guide by Rob Kemp
With most baby books being aimed at the mother, this sensible and quick read book, cuts out the insipid guff and gets straight down to the practicalities of having a baby.
In fact, it’s a pretty useful read for the first time mother too, considering many of the glossy magazines and soft-focused pregnancy and baby books bear almost no resemblance of the reality of life with a baby.
With at least one paragraph on everything up to around the age of one, this book doesn’t dumb down raising children or resort to tacky gift-books for the blokes mentality.
Our favourite section: What the hell are party bags? This is the kind of stuff that is really important in your child’s social life which no other baby books will mention.
Yes, you child will be blackballed from attending other competitive parent’s children’s birthday parties if your party bag is not up to scratch.
Thank you Rob Kemp for warning us.
