Reviewed: The Happy Colouring Book for Kids from Anorak Magazine

The fabulous Anorak Magazine has expanded its quirky creativeness into a series of books for children.

The Anorak Press launched this summer with a range of colouring, activity books and annuals, in keeping with the magazine’s style and appeal.

Anorak Magazine launched in 2006, making high quality visual design accessible to children and their parents.

Founder Cathy Olmedillas said: “At a time when children are reading less than they used to, we wanted to add a new flavour to the world of children’s books to ignite the passion children can feel towards the written word. There’s nothing revolutionary about creating books or encyclopaedias, but we think we can add our own unique flavour to children’s books with our trademark humour, madness and love of design. All at very affordable prices.”

The Happy Colouring Book for Kids is a series of limited edition mini colouring-in bookets. These dinky little books are perfect for travelling as they slot easily into the smallest of handbags. The range of books have been designed by ten different illustrators, all of who have contributed to Anorak Magazine in the past.

These imagination capturing books will inspire creative children and their future doodles. They won’t realise how lucky they are to have escaped the large turgid heavy handed insipid illustrations generations of youngsters were forced to fill in before them.
