Run for the Stroke Association in the Bath Half Marathon

A charity is calling for runners who are taking part in the Bath Half Marathon to join their team to help support their cause.

The Stroke Association is asking those who have their own place for Sunday 6th March 2011 to join its team of 40 runners.

Participants who decide to run for The Stroke Association will receive support on the day and a branded Stroke Association running vest.
 
In the UK, 150,000 people with have a stroke this year.

At least 300,000 people in England are living with disabilities as a result of having a stroke.

A stroke can happen to anyone, of any age, at any time.

Simple steps such as regular exercise, reducing salt, not smoking and drinking alcohol in moderation alongside a healthy lifestyle will help to reduce the risk of the UK’s third biggest killer.

Regional Fundraising Manager of The Stroke Association, Stephen Chesworth says: “Stroke is best described as a brain attack and every five minutes someone in the UK has a stroke.  By pledging to do the Bath Half Marathon now you will help us raise vital funds and improve your fitness at the same time – it’s a winning formula!”
