Schools Out helps families enjoy activites during holidays
Children and their families will be able to enjoy getting out this summer due to the start of a new holiday initiative.
The £1.1 million Schools Out programme running in the city has been funded by Bristol City Council.
It is being repeated this year following a successful pilot scheme held last year.
The council has now allocated funding for every school in the city.
A variety of activities will be run through the schools allowing families the chance to take part in events that may not have otherwise been available to them.
Strategic Director for Children Young People and Skills Annie Hudson said: “Research shows that although there are more activities provided through schools than ever before, around a third of families do not take advantage of them. The schools out programme aims to remove some the financial barriers to accessing these extra activities to help improve the well-being and improve the educational opportunities for some of our most disadvantaged families.
“I’m also delighted to announced that all Bristol schools are able to offer extended services – that is activities and facilities beyond the school day for their local communities.”
