Slack Parents Let Their Children Smash Everything Up As ‘part of the fun of parenting’

It’s more Parent Hasn’t Learnt To Say No news today. This time it’s from Discount Flooring Department, which found that British parents spend an average of £3,466.04 on home repairs caused by children.

Amazingly, the average parent spends thousands of pounds mending and replacing things that their children have damaged or broken during play, according to the survey of 1,008 people.

Damage to walls, such as covering marks, stains, chips and scratches was the most common problem, with 84 per cent citing it as their biggest problem.

Stained carpets came in at second place, with 78 per cent unable to work out how to clean a dirty area or cover flooring before messy play.

In third place came damage to sofas, chairs or beds with and fourth place broken mirrors, pictures and other items that seem to be smashed despite hanging high up on a wall.

In fifth place with 56 per cent in agreement was damage to TVs, tablets and stereos.

Apparently, the same survey found 92 per cent of parents who let their children trash the house believed it was all ‘part of the fun of parenting’.
