Snow Day by Richard Curtis and Rebecca Cobb – Review

snow day

This bitter sweet story about the relationship between a badly behaved child and a strict school teacher is beautifully written and illustrated.

It’s rare that a children’s picture book manages to be both intelligent and engaging for an audience this young.

It’s suitable for children aged three years upwards, though there’s a message that up to around seven years can glean from the storyline.

It’s a Snow Day and despite the school being closed, Danny’s family don’t get the message.

He ends up spending the day with his nemesis Mr Trapper.

What happens from there is the beginnings of an understanding between the two very lonely characters.
