Some new mums love boasting to friends about baby milestones

Never resisting the opportunity for competition, some parents apparently love to brag about almost anything.

Whilst at Chopsy Baby, an achievement is getting children to school without having to sign the Late Book, My1stYears.com, asked new mums what it is they loved to boast about when it comes to their babies.

Apparently, sleeping through the night, was the milestone parents couldn’t wait to impart upon their friends, followed by their child’s first smile and then moving on to solids.

According to My1stYears.com’s study, one parent said: “I was desperate to tell my friends as soon as my baby slept for more than seven hours. When you’re so sleep deprived, having that many hours unbroken sleep feels amazing. They were really jealous – just the reaction I expected. I have to say, I felt really smug, especially as they all looked absolutely shattered.”

Parents also boasted about how proud they felt when their child moved from milk to solids, with another saying ‘it was such a nice feeling to be able to tell the other mums she’d started toddling around’.

A spokesperson for My1stYears.com said: “There are some really momentous milestones during a baby’s first year and quite rightly, mums want to share these moments with their friends and family.

“At the time it probably doesn’t feel like you’re being boastful, you just want to let everyone know about these big moments in your tots life.”
