South West parents fork out to feel ‘happy’

 

A new survey found that UK parents are spending large amounts of time and money making their newborn baby settle peacefully and making themselves happy in the process.

 

The YouGov survey commissioned by Graco questioned 1,000 parents across the UK with babies under 12 months, to find out how they felt when their offspring was first born. The top three responses was ‘happy’, ‘relaxed’ and ‘relieved’.

 

In the South West findings showed that parents spent an increasing amount of money on ways of soothing their babies to contentment.

 

Driving up to 30 miles a week was a method 26 per cent had used.

 

A huge 92 per cent had invested in products such as dummies, swaddles, swings and bouncers.

 

Some parents even admitted to leaving energy consuming house hold appliances running to console their child.

 

New parents also admitted to investing huge amounts of time testing out their own personal techniques.

 

The old fashion rocking technique was favoured by 48 per cent of parents whilst other parents used time to compile songs including The Beatles and Bob Marley.

 

The survey revealed the thing new parents want most in the first week at home with a new baby according to 50 per cent asked is simply more sleep.
