Speeding, no seat belt and no child car seats bad habits of UK parents revealed

A 37 per cent of parents admit they break legal speed limits while they are driving with their children in the car.

Being in a rush was the reason cited by most in a poll by VoucherCodesPro.co.uk.

Worryingly, around half of those who broke speed laws didn’t think it was putting their child at any extra risk.

And, more than one in ten drivers also said they didn’t wear a seatbelt when driving their child around.

If findings couldn’t get any worse, an 18 per cent also admitted to letting their children get away without using a car seat when they were legally required to do so.

A total of 2,284 UK parents with children aged 13 years of age and below took part in the survey.

Founder and CEO of VoucherCodesPro.co.uk, Nick Swan said: “I have to say that I am appalled at the results of our recent research. Every single person should drive within the speed limit and wear a seatbelt, whether it is in front of their children or not.”

“To do so in front of your children is awful. It’s important to teach children the important of safety from a young age and not set bad examples for them. Be safe for your own good and your child’s. The most shocking part is the number of parents who admit that their children don’t always wear seatbelts themselves, or that car seats often aren’t used when they should be.”
