Stop teens drinking on street corners with free activities

There comes an age in life when Christmas is boring, family is boring and getting drunk on a street corner with mates seems like a plan.

Bristol City Council are urging the street corner drinkers to ditch the cheap cider and get involved in a range of free activities.

Music recording and urban dance are some of the free activities on offer during Christmas and New Year.

Funding from the Government’s Aiming High strategy has also seen the introduction of art and drama.

Bristol’s very own Children’s Minister, Dawn Primarolo said: “The Government has invested more than £900m to ensure that young people have interesting things to do and safe places to go at times when they and communities need them most, particularly on Friday and Saturday nights.

“As part of our ongoing work to tackle alcohol-related youth crime, we will be launching a major new campaign early next year to prevent young people from starting drinking too early.”
