The really useful Graco i-monitor Video Vibe is essential parenting equipment

Parents grow eyes in the back of their head the day their child is born, but sometimes we all need a helping hand.

For one of the best solutions on the market, we highly recommend the Graco  i-monitor video vibe.

The digital colour video technology allows you to keep an eye on your baby or toddler during both day and night. It has a static free connection of up to 600 meters, a 1.9 inch display monitor, digital zoom and a vibration alert.

The digitally encoded signal will not be affected by yours or your neighbour’s telephone or other electrical items giving off a static charge. The camera can be swiveled for optimum positioning and an alarm will alert the user when the rechargeable batteries begin to run low.

Chopsy Baby editor Jen Smith tested out the Graco I-monitor Video Vibe. Jen says: “This is a top notch piece of parenting equipment. Light weight and compact, it can be set up and powered in seconds. It has a really clear digital image during both day and night time use.

“On first testing in the home, I left the house and walked down to the bottom of the street without losing the signal at all.  At no time during a month of testing have I once encountered an interference with the video signal. The image on the screen has always remained very clear, even when using during night time. In particularly dark rooms, I did leave a light on outside the room the monitor was being used in.

“The UK’s leading cot death charity, The Foundation for the Study of Infant Deaths (FSID) insist the safest place for your baby to sleep is in a crib or cot in a room with you for the first six months. Even so, it is helpful for your baby to be put to bed awake and learn to fall asleep by themselves. Having a video baby monitor can bring enormous peace of mind during these early days, especially if your bedroom is far away from the main living area of the house.

“The sound quality was excellent and if you are concerned about not being able to hear your baby cry, you can set the monitor to vibration alert. These settings can be done without losing the image on the screen. We tested the sound out thoroughly and found that a cry, laugh, talking or significant disturbance in the room will send a vibration alert to the parent. There is also a wrap around light that will flash when it detects noise and we managed to trigger this with a loud finger click.

“The joy of the i-monitor is that it is so easy to move about the house. It is hand held, very light and will fit inside a pocket.  When using on rechargeable batteries we got about two hours’ use before the battery started to go. The monitor will warn you when the battery life is low. Ideally, if you are settled in a room watching the television, keeping it on mains power seems to work best.

“As well as monitoring babies the monitor is perfect for keeping an eye on toddlers too. Sometimes during cooking, other household chores, answering the door, going to the toilet it is just not possible to watch your toddler all the time, but the i-monitor can.

“The Graco i-monitor is not just any baby monitor, but a really useful piece of equipment that will grow with your family. It can be used from birth, right through the toddler years.”
