The staycation

Last year, 43 per cent of the entire population of Great Britain took their main holiday abroad. This year is a different story according to research by sat nav makers TomTom. A significant 29 per cent of the population are now intending to take their main holiday in the UK. This is an increase of nearly two million people on the previous years figures making good news for the British tourism industry.

Money was the main issue when it came to making the choice to holiday at home. When the costs of holidaying abroad were totted up, 59 per cent of people believed they could save up to £1000 by staying in the UK.

The Great British stay-at-home holiday is being called the staycation and over the next month, Chopsy Baby will be looking at ways to make the most of holidaying at home.
