Third of mothers don’t want more children due to pregnancy side effects
A new survey finding one third of mothers don’t want any more children due to the side effects of pregnancy is a surprise discovery.
In a poll of nearly 2,000 UK women with one child or more, BabyChild.org.uk, found that 49 per cent didn’t want any more children.
Of these, 36 per cent said that the side effects of pregnancy, including morning sickness, weight gain, stretch marks and pain put them off.
There are far more hardcore things to put women off of further pregnancies than nine months of side effects including childbirth, episiotomy and third world maternity wards.
Co-founder of BabyChild.org.uk, Jill Tovey, commented: “We all know the side effects of pregnancy, but the intensity of some of these are sometimes underestimated. No two pregnancies are likely to be the same, but the side effects can be emotionally and physically challenging. What could be an amazing part of pregnancy for one expectant mother could be very uncomfortable for some other women.”
