Three Bed Family Home in Bristol now Averages £1126 Per Month in Rent
If you rent in Bristol, you will probably have noticed that there’s not much money left from payday to spend on the fun stuff after the landlord’s rent is due.
According to the Landbay Rental Index for March 2018, the average UK rent outside of London is now £761 per month.
But don’t get too excited if you are planning a move to the South West. Whilst the average monthly rent for the West Country is £749, Bristol alone is a staggering £918.
Being more specific, monthly statistics show a one bed flat in Bristol will currently set you back £756, a two bed £982 and three bed £1126.
Bristol is one of the most popular cities to live in outside of London due to its accessibility, diversity, transport links and acceptable level of arts and culture. But at £1126 per month, it’s no longer a city that many Bristolians can afford to live in.
For Londoners looking to leave home, it’s an obvious choice. The average rent in London is currently £1,879.
“There are currently over 4 million tenants in the private rented sector, but affordability is becoming an issue across many parts of the UK.” John Goodall, CEO and founder of Landbay said.
“Whether tenants are renting as a stepping stone on the way to home ownership or, increasingly, renting for life, they rely on the buy-to-let market to ensure rental growth doesn’t dampen their purchasing power. If we truly want to control rental prices before it reaches unsustainable levels, further investment in building more homes, specifically designed to rent rather than buy, is essential.”
