Toddler tantrums leave mums in tears

Toddler tantrums are reducing mothers to tears and causing family rows according to the results of a new survey.

One in two mums admit to crying following the frustration and upset caused by their child having a paddy.

Tears come on a regular basis for one in five mothers who said their toddler made them cry more than once a month.

This results in a lot of upset considering 30 per cent of mums are experiencing daily showdowns.

As if the upset children caused their mums wasn’t enough, a whopping 65 per cent said that the tantrums then caused a row between themselves and their partner.

The survey, conducted by Tunes 4 Toddler Tantrums, also discovered that the parenting techniques mums used to diffuse the situation varied greatly.

Whilst 66 per cent of mums try to ignore the tantrum, 52 per cent use distraction with a toy and 13 per cent give in to the television.

Naughty steps were a popular solution with 27 per cent of mums, 15 per cent lost it themselves and shouted with a smaller 3 per cent admitting to giving a smack.
