Twelve new heads for Bristol

Bristol City Council has celebrated the start of 12 new head teachers this academic year.

A special event at the Council house this week welcomed eight new head teachers, three academy principals and one children’s centre manager into the city,

Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, Councillor Clare Campion-Smith, is happy that all schools currently have a leader despite a national peak in retirements.

She said: “Bristol continues to build special development programmes to help spot and nurture future school leaders and I’m delighted that many of this year’s intake of leaders are home-grown talent and a good mix of experienced and new heads.  They will be working in a city that is celebrating its best GCSE results to date and bucking the national trend on key stage two.”
