Visual Reminders to Help Children with Working Memory Issues and Attention Deficits
If you have a child with low working memory, an attention deficit or dyslexia, it’s totally pointless wasting the energy running through constant vocal reminders to do things.
Actually, it’s probably quite unhelpful, because what they really need are prompts in place that they can work themselves.
This kind of laminated visual reminder helps children organise themselves for the day. They can use a whiteboard pen to tick off each thing as they have done it.
Eventually, the over learning and repeating will mean that they are more likely to remember to do it themselves and without the need for the visual reminder.
Printing out a visual timetable or list of things that needs to be done and laminating it is a cheap and easy way to do this. You can also tailor the timetable or reminders specifically to what fits your child’s needs and day.
