What care can you expect from your midwife? New guidance published this year

New rules and standards for midwives were issued at the end of last year and finally came into force at the start of this year.

The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) is responsible for ensuring all nurses and midwives are aware of rules and standards and are as up-to-date as possible.

The rules, updated from the previous 2004 guidance, aims to protect the health of mothers and babies and demands high standards of care from midwives.
