Our Verdict: Lovely farmyard story with rhyming verse

Ideal for children aged two years upwards, this story about barnyard animals thwarting a pair of dozy crooks gives ample opportunity to bring storytelling alive. Julia Donaldson is an expert at pitching perfectly to her intended age group. Along with Lydia Monks’ engaging illustrations, this is likely to become a firm bedtime story favourite.
