Women consider using Real Nappies as part of baby preparation plans

As part of their baby preparation plans, many women would consider using Real Nappies rather than disposables.

In fact, nearly 50 per cent of women aged between 18 and 45 said when they have a baby they would consider using natural nappies.

A total of 78 per cent of them agreed that washable nappies are good for their environment.

But whilst the good intentions may be there, the messiness and inconvenience of using natural nappies still affects people’s willingness to use them.

The research, carried out by Real Nappy Information Service – Go Real, surveyed around 2,000 women, to give up-to-date advice to Local Authorities on the effectiveness of Real Nappy promotions.

Chief Executive, Jon Rolls said: “The research demonstrates a huge potential for growth in the Real Nappy market. The feedback also gives the industry some very clear indications of what is needed to help more parents use Real Nappies. There have been many product developments to address convenience and ease of use, so now we just need to increase product awareness”

It is believed at least 35,000 UK parents are currently using Real Nappies.

This is potentially saving parents around £500 on the cost of the first baby and significantly more when the same nappies are used on a second or even third child.

This week, running from 16 – 22 May, is Real Nappy Week, an annual event in its 15th year providing a focus and opportunity to promote the use of washable nappies.
