Young people will be better off in work promise
Young people moving from unemployment back into the work place will be better off.
The guarantee comes from Work and Pensions Secretary Yvette Cooper today.
More than 100,000 new opportunities for the under 25s, including training and work experience, will be available to those still unemployed after six months.
A new Back to Work credit will be given to everyone on benefits for at least six months, regardless of age, making them at least £40 a week better off when moving back into work.
Yvette Cooper believes that a radical reform to the welfare system is needed to help people out of poverty and back into the work place.
She said: “This means that everyone – be they lone parents, carers or disabled people – will get the support they need, not only to get work but to stay in work. We will also guarantee that people will be better off in a job than on benefits.”
